Searching The Star…

Thanksgiving weekend is an entry to the preparation for the great event of Christmas. Children will look forward to the beautiful lights and decorations, and the gifts that are on the way. The chimes of carols are heard everywhere. The cool breeze and snow in some places create the feeling of real Christmas days. The Malls are filled with red colors and Christmas trees. For people in general, it is a time of celebration, shopping, and vacation.You may not find the Christmas cribs outside, but most homes are also decorated with the Christmas crib depicting the birth of Jesus.

In the liturgical calendar, it is called the season of Annunciation. The angel Gabriel announced the glad news to Mary that God is coming to live among us (Emmanuel means God is with us). It is the fulfillment of humanity’s long long wait. It’s the culmination of the dreams of the prophets. It is the season of the arrival of the Messiah. It is the announcement of good tidings.

It’s Christmas season again! The Magis journeyed to the East where the star directed them and worshiped the Lord. Let’s also go to the manger, and enter the experience of this Good News which brings peace to the world. Let it be a moment of joy for humanity. “Glory to God in the highest and peace to people of good will.”

The novel ‘The Gift of the Magi’ reminds us of the significance of Christmas today. Della and Jim had thought of what to give to each other as a Christmas gift. We read that they gave away what they held the most precious to them to acquire the gift. The savior in the manger, too, is the most precious gift of God the Father to the world. We have received the best gift in life – Lord the Savior! Are you preparing to share this best gift – the Lord – to others?

Let us exchange the precious gifts of love, peace and harmony which the Lord gives to humanity.
